I am Learning to Find Information from a Text.

I am in Thumper Group for Reading. I am Reading at Green Level 14. We have been learning how to find information from a text.  We read the nonfiction book Cats and made a mind map to show the different facts that we learned.

My Reflection
It was tricky to find new facts and information from the book because some words were hard to read. I liked reading about cats. My favourite part of the book was learning about food for cats to eat.

I am Learning to Recognise and Read Long Vowel Sounds and Silent E.

I am in Max group for reading. We are at the green reading level. We have been learning about long vowel sounds and how a silent e can change the vowel sound in different words.

Success Criteria:
- correctly identify words with long vowel sounds and silent e.
- correctly identify the long vowel sound in the words.
- read words with and without the silent e and notice the difference.

My Reflection
I think that I did very well.
It is easy to read words that have a long vowel sound. I can tell the difference between words that have a silent e and the ones that don't have a silent e.
It can be hard to know what sound the vowels make when they are short or long.

I am Learning to Recognise Contractions.

I am in Thumper group for Reading, we are working at Green level. We have been learning to recognise and read contractions.

I need to:
- read contractions correctly
- understand that they are a shortened version of two words
- match a contraction with the words they are short for

My Reflection
I am proud of how I read the words.
It can be tricky to read the words and to match them because sometimes they look similar.
If I got stuck with contractions in class I could ask my friend Elenoa.

I am Learning to Make Rhyming Strings

I am in Thumper group for reading. We have been learning to make rhyming strings to help us read new words.

I need to:
- Think of words that have the same end sound.

- Think of words that make sense.

My Reflection

I am proud of how I thought of the rhyming words by myself.
It can be tricky to read new words.
It is important to keep trying and practicing.

Reading Eggs

I am learning to make the first and last sounds so I can work out the word for myself.  Reading Eggs helps to reinforce my learning.

I am learning to sound out 3 letter words.

I am learning to say the first, middle and last sound in a word and then blend the sounds together to write the word.  This can help me in my reading and my writing.
